heliozoa.com

I believe that the work on this site is pretty abstract and different. If I may ask a question, which programs were used to construct this web site?

What will I do with this blog after I finish Cyberstudies

I am not sure what I will do with this blog at this stage, as I am thinking of continuing with cyberstudies during next semester. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! only hoping that next semesters damn lectures are too damn early! damn f****n ahole!!! (Sorry) anyways, back on topic.... If it comes to a pinch, I'd probably use this blog to post about what other stuff is happening at uni, work, or about my personal life.

What I have learned during the course and how it has changed my understanding

During this course, I have learned to use various mulitmedia programs. Some of which I have used briefly and others that I have never used before. This has changed through the help of my lecturer during Friday tutorials. I now know how to make a simple web page using Dreamweaver, I know a bit more about how to use Flash, and I now understand how to create simple sounds using FruityLoops.

Essay Topic

I have no essay topic at this stage, will let you know when I find one.

Thanks

Flash

Flash is a program that is used to create games, animations and web pages. To me, I find this program rather confusing (sometimes) as I haven't used it for a while.

Sounds on the web

I went to the 'SoundToys website (www.soundtoys.net) and found some interesting stuff. My favourite one would have been 'Iredescent sound' which is a flash based project. It is some sort of game where sound and colour and interaction with the computer is combined, thus creating a virtual audio visiual atmosphere.

Hacking and how it can be beneficial or destructive to people.

What is a Hacker? The term, 'hacker' is defined as someone who is farmilliar with computer programming languages, such as C++ and Visual Basic and is proficient at using or programming a computer. Whereas the term 'cracker' is defined as a person who makes unauthorised use of a computer to tamper with or delete certain programs or data.

The first computer hackers came about in the 1960s. These people were curious about how things worked. Computers weren't small enough and compact enough to fit on your desk at home or work back then. Instead, they were big enogh to fill an entire room, and it cost companies huge amounts of money to run these machines. The programmers of these computers only had limited access to them. So the smarter programmers created what were known as 'hacks' or programming shortcuts. This was done to speed up the completion of programming tasks.

The best hack of all time was created in 1969 by Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson, who came up with some open rules to run machines on the computers. They called their new standard operating system UNIX.

Nowadays, hackers are gaining access to computer networks and creating havoc in cyberspace. To prevent hackers from getting access to a computer is to do the following:

Run an Antivirus Program once a week
Use a firewall such as ZoneAlarm and make sure it's the latest version.
Don't open email attachments
Put a good password on your computer (one that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.)

However, there are some benefits of hacking. For example. a poor person using their parent's computer may think about wanting to buy a CD, but they can't afford it, so they download music for free via a file sharing network such as Kazaa, and Gnutella. Unfortunately, this sort of behaviour can make record companies lose heaps of nomey due to people downloading music for free rather than paying money for a CD.

Hackers can hurt online businesses by taking control of the computer network and erasing what has taken them years to accomplish. They can also gain access to your home personal computer and unleash viruses such as a Trojan Horse, or retrieve confidential data such as bank account information, email account information and use them for their own enjoyment.

How to Destroy Your Friend's Life Using PhotoShop

I believe that the easiest way to destroy your friend's life in Photoshop is to ask them what they hate the most in the world, take a picture of them, add some stuff into the picture, then print it off and show it to them. Or an even better, catch them out doing something really gross, wierd, or just plain down right dirty, take a pic of them when they least expect it, run home as fast as you can and get down to business (editing in photoshop) write down your friend's (or in this case, your enemy's) number and say that your friend/enemy is looking for a 'good time' , then post it on the internet and listen as your friend's mobile is flooded with phone calls and instant text messages.

But I don't think I'll be that harsh (yet)

What I've decided to do to destroy my friends or relatives lives in photoshop is to turn them into something nasty. For Example, one of my ccousins. He's pretty cool sometimes but can be a pain in the ass other times. So why not do something to him. Something like a pic of him getting chased by a fire breathing space mutant, or why not put a crazy moustache on his face? Pay him back for using me as a jungle gym.

I decided to go with the fire breathing space mutant and have my cousin being chased by him or about to be eaten by it. (mmmmmmmmm. tasty!). I cut and pasted my cousin into a background image of the moon. But I thought that the black sky with the earth in it was too boring. So I removed the earth and added a bit of colour to it by using a gradient and the clouds filter. then I added a lense flare for extra effect. For humourous purposes I added his dog and a speech bubble with a message

Now for the space Mutant. I couldn't really find much of a mutant, but surely a stormtrooper from Star Wars would count? I hope so. Anyways, I put the stormtrooper at a distance, so that my cousin would be scared and think, 'ummmmm, I don't think were on earth anymore.' and then flattened the image (when I was happy with it) saved it to disk, and uploaded it to this blog for your enjoyment. I hope you like it.
